As long as your cellular phone number is based out of
the United States or Canada, you can use either the postpaid
or the prepaid calling cards with your wireless phone. Be
aware of the plan you choose, though, with your plan because
if you already have nationwide long distance, you do not
want to use the minutes on your wireless phone using a phone
card when long distance is already free with your calling
plan.
On the other hand, if you choose a plan that has free nights
and weekends, as many cellular plans do today, there will
not be a charge to your minutes for using a phone card.
Again, though, be cognizant of the plan you have and don’t
waste minutes on your phone card if your wireless already
provides free calls to the number you wish to call. You
may, want to use a calling card to make international calls,
as most plans do not provide international calling, and
to add that feature can be quite expensive. In most cases,
it is cheaper to use a phone card when making international
long distance calls. Unless you are a frequent international
traveler, or make a great many international long distance
calls from your cell phone, it is probably not an economically
sound decision to add international dialing to your wireless
plan.
